Michael, Oh Michael

(Words & Music by Michael Spiro)

I met an old friend on the street yesterday, got to talkin’ about days gone by

Summer camp stories we told made us laugh, but a campfire song made us cry

It was a sweet simple song I remember that melody, the boys in the back room would all sing along

The words took me back to a place that I long to be, fixed in a photograph, lost in a song …

Michael, Oh Michael row your boat ashore again, raise up your voice like we used to my friend

Swing low on your chariot sweet like you said, and sing a song for the good times that still lie ahead

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, yeah, yeah

Some folks look back on a lifetime of yesterdays dreaming of what might have been

Others they dwell on the thrill of today, they don’t care if they loose or they win

But then there are those who remember those younger days, living and learning and growing along

Knowing tomorrow will soon be a yesterday, fixed in a photograph, lost in a song …

Michael, Oh Michael row your boat ashore again, raise up your voice like we used to my friend

Swing low on your chariot sweet like you said, and sing a song for the good times that still lie ahead

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, yeah, yeah

I met an old friend on the street yesterday, got to talkin’ about days gone by

Summer camp stories we told made us laugh, but a campfire song made us cry

And I said Michael, Michael, Oh Michael row your boat ashore again, raise up your voice like we used to my friend

Swing low on your chariot sweet like you said, and sing a song for the good times that still lie ahead

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, yeah, yeah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, yeah, yeah
